Oscuro Vase
This striking vase is a celebration of the unique ceramic tradition of San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca. The village is famous for barro negro (black clay), a glossy, dark pottery achieved through a specialized firing process that dates back centuries. Handcrafted in the family workshop of María Guadalupe Cantón, this vase features a contemporary texture of bold, hand-formed spikes. The metallic sheen of the barro negro beautifully catches the light, making this vessel a stunning piece of sculptural art.
