Ila Cerámica is a women-run creative ceramic studio in Guadalajara, Jalisco founded in 2018 by Camila Apaez. For Camila, pottery has been a source of personal healing and inspiration. Highlighting the intersection of sculpture and function, Ila’s pieces are crafted through manual construction using an ancestral technique called coil building as well as through the process of casting. We’re mesmerized by their distinctive, organic shapes that evoke the human form and natural world. The team at Ila Cerámica are constantly in pursuit of ways in which the contemplative message of their pieces can be in harmony with the environment, using only solar-power energy at their studio, biodegradable packaging, and a tramp system for the recycling of water.
