Mano de Tierra

In June of 2020, Laura Ruiz and Eduardo Guzmán began learning of the economic hardships faced by artisanal indigenous communities in the state of Michoacán as a result of the COVID pandemic and set out to create a platform focused on supporting the growth and development of communities of craftsmen throughout the region. Mano de Tierra was soon born — a brand dedicated to fostering respect and admiration for traditions through the curation, design and promotion of Mexican folk art. Today, Laura and Eduardo collaborate with their artisan partners from a variety of states including Michoacán, Guerrero, and Oaxaca to share a variety of popular art and decor pieces, always with an emphasis on evoking tradition through the use and preservation of ancestral techniques. They pride themselves on creating fair and sustainable relationships with the artisans, who they see as the true creators of every piece.
