HANDS THAT SEE: THE MIRACULOUS RED CLAY OF OAXACA

Taller Manos Que Ven is a world-renowned ceramics studio in San Antonio Castillo Velasco, Oaxaca, led by master clay artisan Maestro José García Antonio. José began sculpting as a young boy, and despite losing his vision during his middle age due to cataracts, he continued his craft, demonstrating a remarkable degree of skill and imagination. Many of the studio's pots, vases, and mermaids feature the face of José's wife and muse, Maestra Santa Reyna Teresita, who contributes her own artistic prowess to the studio along with the couple’s children. Manos Que Ven (“Hands that See”) is an inspiring example of Oaxacan artistry and ingenuity, and we’re delighted to celebrate their unique work.
