San Germán Cerámica is a multi-generational family-run pottery workshop founded over 35 years ago in Tonalá, Jalisco, and now based in San Miguel Tlaixpan, Texcoco in the State of México. San Germán’s stoneware pieces are painted by hand in the distinctive Tonalá style widely recognized throughout the country. The whimsical motifs of flowers, birds, and suns appear repeatedly on their products, often in their signature azul (blue) and golden cáfe (brown) glazes. Each piece is fired at a high temperature, approximately 1,280 degrees Celsius, to ensure long-lasting durability. Every time we pull out their joyful pieces, we’re transported to our favorite artisanal market in Mexico City where San Germán can be found every Saturday sharing their products with locals and visitors alike.
