Velas San Pascual
Founded in 2011, San Pascual Velas is a family-run beeswax candle workshop based in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca run by the family’s third generation of candlemakers. Their candles are known regionally as velas de concha (shell candles) because of the shell molds traditionally used to create their delicate wax flowers. Today, their candles are made using locally-harvested beeswax and are all hand poured and shaped using clay and wooden molds. The workshop also produces incredible large-scale pieces that stand several feet tall and are used in the local community to celebrate marriage proposals and religious events. San Pascual Velas is committed to carrying forward the traditions of their ancestors while adopting new processes to build towards a sustainable future.
