Tendajón de Barro
Tendajón de Barro was founded in 2020 by Elia Lopez and Arturo Bravo with the goal of promoting and preserving the rich history of pottery making in Yojuela — a riverside community located in the Sierra Sur region of Oaxaca. Historically, artisans in the community sold their clay pots and comales in local markets, however this tradition has been on the decline since the arrival of cheaper goods made of plastic and aluminum. Elia and Arturo saw an opportunity to strengthen local economic activity by bringing the pottery to new markets throughout México. From there, a collaboration grew that is rooted in transparency and respect. Tendajón de Barro's distinctive, playful pieces fill our shelves with joy, and we're honored to play a role in their mission.
