Xaquixe
Founded in 2002 by Salime Harp Cruces and Christian Thornton, Xaquixe is a glass innovation studio in Magdalena Apasco, Oaxaca that is bringing a pioneering approach to sustainability in glassblowing. 95% of the glass used in their pieces comes from recycled glass bottles, and their furnaces are powered in part by recycled oil donated from restaurants and hotels in the area. With their success in implementing these sustainable practices, Xaquixe has also launched a research and training arm focused on helping other small businesses adopt planet-friendly processes relative to their local resources and contexts. The studio hires their team entirely from the city’s surrounding rural regions and provides them with training to become master glass blowers. We’re excited to support their important work and connect you with their beautiful, one-of-kind glassware.
