Handcrafted in the Nahua community of Xalitla, Guerrero, by Artesanías de Guerrero Danna, this piece draws on generations of regional woodcarving and painterly storytelling. Renowned for their intricate illustrations on amate paper and carved wood, Xalitla artisans use soft, sustainable zompantle wood to model traditional figures, masks, and guardian cherubs. After carving the form with gouges and knives, artisans prep the surface and meticulously paint fine-line details freehand using fine brushes. Artesanías de Guerrero Danna preserves this Nahua artistic tradition, creating expressive pieces that celebrate Guerrero's rich craft legacy.
