Built in a classic double-bulb gourd silhoutte, the vessel features a light pistachio burnished ground adorned with sweeping white floral illustrations, feathered botanicals, and delicate line work painted freehand with fine brushes. Handcrafted in Huáncito, Michoacán, by artisan Alfredo Felipe, this vessel honors the deep ceramic traditions of the Cañada de los Onces Pueblos. Famous throughout Mexico for their mastery of barro bruñido (burnished clay), Huáncito potters shape native highland clay by hand without industrial glazes or electric wheels. Artisans apply fine mineral slip coats and paint detailed floral and geometric motifs freehand using soft animal-hair brushes. The dry piece is then painstakingly burnished with river stones to seal the clay and fix the delicate white line art before firing in traditional wood kilns, locking in its luminous finish and historical Purépecha character.
