The Story

Handcrafted at Taller Manos Que Ven ("Hands That See") in San Antonio Castillo Velasco, Oaxaca, this piece embodies a story of extraordinary resilience, love, and artistic mastery. Founded by world-renowned ceramicist Maestro José García Antonio and his wife and muse, Maestra Santa Reyna Teresita, the family studio is celebrated for its poetic terracotta sculptures. Despite losing his sight to cataracts in middle age, Maestro José continues to sculpt remarkable, expressive clay forms purely by touch and memory, working side by side with his family. Many of the studio's iconic sirens and face vessels bear Teresita's features, making each piece an enduring tribute to family heritage and Oaxacan clay traditions.
